Embodied life – Authentic Living

===================================================

tayla shanaye has been on her own healing journey. Since receiving her 200 hour yoga asana teacher training certification from The Bhakti Yoga Shala  in 2011, she has been dedicated to understanding how accessing the body potentiates healing and transformation.

This has led her to complete a Master’s in Psychological Studies with a concentration in Somatic Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Much of her research during that program focused on the ways racism, environmental injustice, and activism perpetuate the embodied traumatization among marginalized communities. Upon completing her Master’s studies and training as a counseling pscyhologist, she decided to forego board certification and licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Partly political and partly personal, this decision has led her back into academia where she is currently pursuing her PhD in Women’s Spirituality, researching the maternal lineages of traditional healing and expanded states of consciousness. Attuned to the psychology of the body, her research is a prayer for transformation of our collective consciousness through meaningfully attending to our collective bodies – including that of the Living Earth.

Though she does not consider herself a trauma specialist in the traditional sense, her eclectic background has positioned her with invaluable skills in working with trauma and affect regulation. Drawing on her experience as a dancer, theatre performer, yoga asana practitioner and instructor, and folk herbalist, she works with individuals to facilitate self-awareness and meaningful engagement with the co-creation of reality.

She currently sees clients for one-on-one counseling and coaching.
