“To be grounded is to be connected to our emotional-electrical currents, to the waves of our needs and images and the rhythms of actions which comprise our physical-psychic processes: the rhythms of the human and the natural ground.” Stanley Keleman
Human Beings are pretty radical. We have all this potential, power, wisdom and consciousness contained within a mobile, sensitive, feeling, living, and ever-changing physical structure that facilitates perception, interaction and interpretation of the world around us which, in turn, can deepen our connection and allow access to the power, wisdom, and expanded consciousness that lies within.. What a unique opportunity it is to be alive in the human form. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you may find yourself feeling more and more curious about this potential and even exploring ways to find uninhibited access to these deeper levels of consciousness. In this exploration, there are a lot of unanswered questions.. a lot of confusion.. and at least a couple challenges. Looking at my own attempts to expand my consciousness and understand my journey of the Self, through the Self, to the Self – I’ve started exploring emotions that come up at any given point in time and how those feelings impact my decisions, my ability to see with clarity and move forward from a place of truth.. I talked about the Feels not to long ago.. yeah.. they’re still here.
I may not be like everyone else – I really like feeling. I like thinking about feeling. I like talking to people about what they’re feeling. I like sharing what I’m feeling in an effort to connect to others and better understand myself. I like to look at those feelings and try to understand the root of them. I think that feeling is a radical gift of human experience not to be squandered, but to be embraced, explored, and connected to. And sure – there are times when these feels are ugly and it’s then that I really get excited because it’s in these less than “positive” emotions I am able to do really deep work in the unraveling of old stories, releasing these negative emotions from their seed, and start to act with clarity. As the person I am – a very deeply feeling person (I am a true Pisces and Rabbit), learning to walk this path is.. well.. really hard.
Luckily, the Universe has presented me with a couple encounters with Quantum Physics and the electromagnetic field of the heart!! Research – the hard stuff – now gives foundation to all these feelings – the soft stuff – and shows how they work in relationship to the body, the mind, and to others. The heart – the physiological center of emotions and feelings – is actually 60% neuron cells, not muscle cells which indicates that one of it’s main roles is to communicate. More and more, researchers are seeing how the heart deeply impacts what we think, how we react to those thoughts, and how our emotions impact those around us. When the heart is filled with true positive emotions such as love, compassion, excitement, and joy, it begins to beat in a more harmonious rhythm. Our brains begin to then synchronize with that harmony, allowing clarity of thought, ease of action, and more connection. When filled with negative emotions such as bitterness, anger, frustration, and guilt, our heart rhythm begins to come undone and chaotic in nature, leading to muddiness in thinking, unclear action, and distraction. It’s really something I think (or feel?) we’ve known a really long time. Ever said things you didn’t mean out of anger? Been blinded by rage and done things you regret? Yeah.. we all have… But when you’re filled with joy and peace, do you feel like you generally think through things a little more thoroughly and act more thoughtfully? Yeah… me too. This is pretty exciting news. This means that it’s not just important to feel good for the sake of feeling good – but that feeling is essential to how we behave and make decisions. It’s also essential that we fill ourselves with joy, love, and compassion to actually improve brain function and cognitive skills. WIN!
Not only that, but the heart generates the largest electromagnetic field than any other organ in the body – some 5,000 times stronger than that of the brain and can be sensed several feet from the body. This discovery allows us to understand how we can pick up on people’s emotional states without other indicators and how others can tell if something is “bothering us”. It also highlights how we are generally drawn to certain “happy” people because they emit such a strong sensation of love and welcoming. It’s the research behind realizing that vibes (the heart) speak louder than words (the brain). Deeper studies have gone into how these energies attract like energies and can also influence the energies of others. Think about this. If you’re in a bad mood and continue the day with the negative feelings, does your day improve? Or is it suddenly that everyone that comes into your space either leaves quickly or come with their own bad mood – and now you’re both in a funk? These are all things we know – “Misery loves company,” or as Martin Luther King Jr. said – “Hate begets hate; violence begets violence; toughness begets a greater toughness. We must meet the forces of hate with the power of love.” They’re not new concepts. By listening to and learning to think from our heart, we have a new way to change our environment. We can literally change our minds about one thing or another by deeply accessing how we feel about it and consciously cultivating sensations of love, compassion, and joy. By then radiating out these feelings and emotional energies, we start to attract in more love, compassion and joy – thereby changing the environment in which we live. This positive feedback loop becomes contagious and starts to spread, energetically impacting others you may not know.
I find this all very exciting and look forward to incorporating this deeply into my meditation and yoga practices. As I do more reading and research on this and the various ways we can heal our anger and bring in more lasting peace, I’ll be around to share what I discover. Below are a couple links that are worth checking out. I encourage you to learn a little more about these cool things going on inside.
This confirmation of the power of love, the way the heart impacts the lives of others, and it’s ability attract the life I seek only further compels me to cultivate love and compassion within my own heart. It’s about time we start thinking more with our hearts… don’t you think? Let yourself love. Feel the good and the beautiful and start seeing clearly.
Mad Love.
