This post is a little different – this is not my bliss sister. This is my bliss mother. SunshineSuperOne aka SSO~ aka Tammy Shine aka Tammy Ealom aka mom.. this is my ultimate source of brightness and light. My mom… I mean where do I even start? She’s on fire. She’s as amazing as they come.. She’s multi-talented in such a way, I can hardly keep count. She inspires me really and truly to no end. I know I can be anything because I come from the woman that is absolutely everything. Growing up, I always wanted to be just like her and that will never change.
If you don’t know my mother, let me invite you into her head phones.
My mother is a fucking rock star. I’m serious. She’s the smokey sweet vocals and scratchy guitar in Denver based band Dressy Bessy. She writes, plays, produces, and performs all the tracks of one of the best bands around. I’m not just saying that because she’s my mother.. I seriously dance myself into whiplash every time I see them play. She’s a distinct woman and personality that’s unlike anyone else I know. Dressy Bessy songs – from the drums to the lyrics – are sweet but honest. Powerful but fun. Dancey and Rock&Roll. Since I was a wee little girl, I have always loved going to DB shows… Love hearing “that’s your mom?” There are some songs that still make me cry when I listen to them.. even with the joy of the melody popping like bubble gum in my ears.
My mother is an artist. Truest in every sense of the word. Her photography captures the beauty, the weird, the spontaneous, the color and the texture of life like no one else. I was SPOILED in front of her lens.. I guess I still am. She shows life how it should be lived – bright, technicolor, and loud. Her photography is this beautiful reflection of how she sees life… as though the trees really are cotton candy. Her vision and sight as a photographer is addictive.. she knows exactly what she’s doing and creates truly stunning images of people that help create the memory. The best part – she gets weird sometimes and isn’t afraid to let her freak flag fly, and I cannot thank her enough for teaching me to do the same. To be true and expressive of your own creativity. To share what you love because you actually – truly – instinctually LOVE it. I’m one lucky chick to have this woman as my mother.. she inspires me to everyday in every way and keeps me moving forward. Having her believe in me is often all I need to keep walking.
Give her your ears ==here==
Give her your eyes ==here==
Give her your heart ==here==
Mom – I love you to the moon and back. Thank you for kicking ass and not needing to take names. Thank you for making me dance. Thank you for showing me I’m beautiful. Thank you for being beautiful. Thank you for inspiring me to no end. Thanks for that pony when I turned 25 and the unicorn costume for my dog. Thank you for all of it.
